Summer Temporary Position as Treatment Pedagogue at SiS

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure care for youth. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS youth home Rebecka receives non-compulsory school girls with psychosocial issues as well as criminality and substance abuse.

Job Description

Take the opportunity to try an interesting summer temporary position as a treatment pedagogue at SiS. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge and skills in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and contribute to the smooth running of daily life with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. The work may include case management. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in a difficult life situation. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a summer temporary employee at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.

Qualifications

You should have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work within psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Prison and Probation Service, e.g., prison officer
  • Security guard training
  • Experience from client-facing positions at the Migration Agency, e.g., case officer in detention
  • Education in care and support
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young girls, etc.)

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. You have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people and/or clients. As a person, you are self-assured and have an easy time creating good treatment relationships. You possess good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.
